Task force's recommendations not fully implemented
Assam Tribune | R Dutta choudhury | Guwahati, Sept 30
Godbole said that the task force also gave a number of recommendations on improving management of the international border with Bangladesh to check illegal migration, but most of those were not implemented. He said that the major problem in guarding the border with Bangladesh is that it is not a natural boundary but an artificial one. He said that only the construction of border fencing would not be very effective as people of both countries are living right up to the border.
That is why the task force had recommended creation of no man’s land so that the personnel of the border guarding force can improve its performance. But that recommendation is yet to be implemented by the Government, he added.
