Talks venue disparity stalls truce extension
The Telegraph | Khelen Thokchom | Imphal, March 2:
Disagreement over the venue of talks has stalled a meeting between officials of the Union home ministry, state government and Kuki militants for extension of ceasefire. Altogether 26 Kuki militants, under two umbrella groups of Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and United Peoples' Front (UPF), had entered a tripartite suspension of operation agreement in August 2008.
The ceasefire is extended after completion of a year's term. The last agreement expired on August 21, 2014 but is yet to be extended given lack of an agreement between the groups and the Centre on the venue of the talks.
