Gaan Ngai Celebrations at Majorkhul Imphal :: January 18, 2011
The State level Gaan-Ngai 2012 Celebration Committee (SLGCC) would organised a mega festival of "Gaan-Ngai 2012" at 10 am of January 7, 2012 at BOAT, informed a release issued by the celebration committee.
In the celebration, main features of "Mailapmei" (traditional fire making) would be displayed along with cultural dances and traditional music skill shows by various youths and elders of Zeliangrong groups such as Zeme, Liangmai, Rongmei and Puimei.
Religious related ritual practices such as "Zoupan Keimei (offering of sacred wine) and "Guak pai jaomei (observing of pig spleen) would be held Mahabali Kabui colony.
In connection with this celebration, the organising committee appealed all the organisations of the State not to call bandhs and strikes on the said day.
The committee further invites all communities and leaders of civil society organisations to witness the culture, traditions and customs of the Zeliangrong people on this auspicious Gaan-Ngai festival.

The State Level Gaan-Ngai 2012 Celebration Committee (SLGCC) will be organising GAAN-NGAI 2012 on January 7 from 10.00 am onwards at BOAT, Imphal.
Governor of Manipur Gurbachan Jagat will grace the celebration as the Chief Guest.
The Organising Committee in a press statement extended invitation to all the people of the state to come, participate and witness the rich culture, tradition, customs of the Zeliangrong people on the occasion.
The main features of the celebration will be the "Mailapmei" (traditonal fire making) followed by the presentation of cultural dances by young boys and girls from different Zeliangrong villages (Zeme, Liangmei, Rongmei & Puimei) and also elders of different villages will display their traditional musical skills.
Religious rituals such as "Zoupan keimei (offering of sacred wine) and Guak pai jaomei (observing of pig spleen)", a traditional beliefs and prediction for future welfare of human beings, will also be held at Mahabali Kabui village.
The Organising Committee appealed to all Organisations of Manipur not to call bandhs, strikes or blockade which may dampen the spirit of celebration.
