Though originally from Tamenglong, his music career was launched in Imphal. James Raingmei's third band "IIIrd Chapter" was formed in 2008 with four guys.
James Riamei felt the need to draw attention of mostly the younger generation who are in the brink of losing moral value, substance abuse etc to awaken their spirit again of being trustworthy and loyal to the society through music. His devotional songs have also helped in spreading the Word.
As a musician, he loves to perform and compete. And James had brought laurels to the State by winning the Sur Sangam Northeast Musical Reality show in 2011 at DDK Northeast organised by Doordarshan.
His band also won the Phobiax NE band contest in Guwahati the same year. He was also the winner of best vocalist in Manipur Rock Fest 2012, a finalist in Highway Star Voice Hunt, Nagaland 2010, First runners Up in Manipur Rock fest with his second band Inxhale.
He had also thrilled the crowd at the Hornbill National Rock Contest in 2012.
At his home town Tamenglong, James Riamei is considered the favourite for many reasons and his first solo album had ten songs with video imageries.
He sings most in English and has performed few numbers in Rongmei langauge.
'Glorify Your Name', of his debut album's title song is available in YouTube. Two favourite songs in Rongmei are Khrista Khouna and Jisuta Kahao e.
James is currently planning to complete his second album and is hopeful to releasing it by the year end.

James writes and composes most of his music based on his experience on social front.
He thinks Music has changed his life and helps in liberating oneself from the scourge of the undesirable.
