Security perception affecting investment in NE Ghatowar
Assam Tribune | IANS | Kolkata, Sept 28 ():
"With over 96 percent of the region's border being international, the northeast can be a gateway to South East Asia for trade and commerce. However, the perception regarding the security in the area has been deterring investment," Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Paban Singh Ghatowar said here.
Speaking at an interactive session organised by the MCC Chamber of Commerce, Ghatowar said the central government was committed towards the 'vision North East 2020' and was working hard to develop the infrastructure in the area to attract investments. "We need to change the mindset with which we look at the northeast. The region can be a goldmine and the government is making all efforts to develop the region," said Ghatowar.
