Rights meet on bill outcome
The Telegraph | Pankaj Sarma | Guwahati, July 8
The Naga Peoples' Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) will hold a conclave of civil society organisations, human rights bodies and student organisations of the Northeast to discuss the consequences of the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016. The organisation will host the event in Dimapur on July 14.
"Following suggestions made by our counterpart organisations of the Northeast, we are hosting the conclave to discuss threadbare about the bill's consequences. If the bill is passed in the upcoming monsoon session of the Parliament beginning on July 18, it will turn the Northeast into a dumping ground of illegal migrants," he added.
