UGC Sponsored Refresher course in Khasi subject begins at NEHU
A two week Refresher course for college & University teachers jointly organised by the UGC Human Resource Development Centre and Khasi Department of NEHU was inaugurated on 11th November,2019 in the Non-Science Cluster Classroom, NEHU, Shillong.
Prof. A. Kharmalki, Head Department of Khasi presided over the inaugural function and Shri Paul Lyngdoh, the Executive Member, Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council was the Chief Guest.
In his inaugural speech Shri Lyngdoh expressed his profound happiness and mentioned that organizing such kind of programmes are very important for college and university teachers to update their knowledge. He was impressed to see the participants attending the refresher course in NEHU from remote colleges of the State.
Shri Paul Lyngdoh in his speech emphasized on the inter-relationship between language and identity. He reiterated that in order to preserve identity, one needs to honor one’s language, motherland and clan system. While lauding at the richness of Khasi oral literature, he also stressed on the need of developing Khasi literature.
Prof. Rakesh Mohan, Director UGC,HRDC, spoke on the importance of Refresher Course in general for career advancement of the faculty members but most importantly he pointed out that after attending this course,what ever up dates in their subject matter they have received, should be passed on to their students at their respective colleges and departments.
Dr. Marbhador M. Khymdeit, Course coordinator welcomed the participants and introduced the theme of the refresher course. The Inaugural function was concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr.B.Bairo.
