TISS Hyderabad is developing teaching, research, training, field demonstration projects areas around 6 academic centres, which eventually will grow into Schools. There is a vibrant community of 120 students on the campus.

A high degree of freedom and autonomy shape the positive work ethos and creativity in the Institute facilitating strong linkages between education, research, public policy, advocacy and outreach. TISS offers a very challenging and fulfilling academic environment and opportunity to scholars committed to creating a just society through education, generation of knowledge and policy outreach.

TISS Hyderabad has Faculty in place since 2011 and had commenced academic programs since August 2012. The following programs are being offered:
o A Masters degree in Rural Development and Governance.
o A 5-year integrated program with a BA in Social Sciences & MA in interdisplinary fields.
o M.Phil and Ph.D in Education and Women’s Studies are currently being taught.

A Masters degree in Education and a Masters degree in Public Policy will also commence from the forthcoming academic year. Efforts have been initiated to develop B.Ed and M.Ed programmes as well as in Livelihoods, Natural Resources and Management.

TISS Hyderabad invites interested scholars in Social Sciences and allied disciplines located within India or proposing to return to India, to apply for faculty positions.The search is for scholars with strong desire to come together to build a world-class academic institution to facilitate creation of people resources, perspectives and knowledge base to aid fundamental transformation of life condition of the people. Selected individuals are expected to be located in Hyderabad and contribute to the design and delivery of new academic programs, mentor young students, conduct research in Andhra Pradesh and other states of India, work in collaboration with state agencies, industry, civil society groups and social movements; actively engage in training programs and publish research papers/books.

With a consolidated salary of Rs.55,000 a month.
1. Good academic record with at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade of ‘B’ in the 7 point scale with letter grades O, A, B, C, D, E and F at the Master’s Degree level, in the relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
2. A relaxation of 5% will be provided from 55% to 50% of the marks at the Master’s level for the SC/ST category candidates, and to the Ph.D. Degree holders who have passed their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September 1991.
3. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
4. Candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/ Colleges/Institutions.
5. Ph.D. with at least two years of post-doctoral teaching and or research experience and publications.

Interviews will be conducted during the first week of June, 2013 in Hyderabad.
7. TISS Hyderabad is looking for individuals with a strong base in disciplinary fields and with demonstrated ability in inter and trans-disciplinary fields of research. Individuals with Ph.D. in Anthropology, Sociology, Economics, Education, Political Science, Public Administration, Psychology, Human Resources Management, History, English Language, Environmental Studies, Gender studies, Natural resources management and Applied Mathematics are encouraged to apply.
8. All positions are initially offered for a period of 3 years with an option of gaining permanent status through a due appointment process, based on performance during or at the end of the contract period and the availability of UGC positions in the current and forthcoming Plan periods. Performance is reviewed each year and contract is extended each year. TISS follows 6th Pay scales, provides health cover for the individual.

10. Shortlisted candidates for all positions will be invited to make a presentation, interact with a Panel of faculty members and take a formal interview by middle of April 2013. The date and venue of the interviews will be intimated. Individuals selected will be expected to join by June 2013 in order to begin contribution to academic programs by July 2013.
11. Assistant Professor positions will be filled subject to satisfactory performance of candidates. The UGC norms for reservation will be followed.
