Rajnath: Centre to wait & watch
The Telegraph | New Delhi, Jan. 3:
Union home minister Rajnath Singh today said the Centre was not in a hurry to clamp President's rule in Manipur but the state government should ensure lifting of the blockade on the state's supply lines immediately.
"We promise all help, including deployment of more paramilitary forces, to ensure that normalcy is restored in the state," he told reporters here.
Asked whether the Centre was planning to impose President's rule in the state, he said: "We are monitoring the deteriorating law and order situation very closely and have also informed the Election Commission about it. The Centre is not in a hurry to clamp President's rule." The home minister said political issues should be resolved in a peaceful manner by the state government and those supporting the blockade. "We are talking to all stakeholders in Manipur, including the Naga groups, to help bring normalcy," he said.
