Abstract: Fruit fly, scientifically named as drosophila, has been extensively used as a model system to study numerous human diseases. 70% of disease causing human genes/proteins have orthologue in drosophila, allowing an easy access system to dissect the etiology of these diseases. In this talk the speaker will summarize his group’s contribution to muscle diseases and healthy ageing using the fruit fly as model.
