As part of its disaster response efforts, PwC India and its NGO Partner, Habitat for Humanity, furnished 51 reconstructed houses and a Community Centre on 21 November 2016 for the people of Manipur’s Tamenglong District, enabling them to rebuild their lives after the devastating earthquake struck the region, beginning of this year.
Through the partnership, more than 155 beneficiaries will gain access to simple, affordable, and disaster resilient homes.
In addition to rebuilding homes with sanitation units, awareness sessions on the importance of health and hygiene were also undertaken through the Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) programme.
Post the handover ceremony, health and hygiene kits were handed over to each family.
On this occasion, Jaivir Singh, Vice Chairman, PwC India Foundation said, “It's heart warming to sponsor this intervention with Habitat for Humanity India as it helps us reach our goal of reaching out to the displaced and rebuilding lives.
