1. Parents / relative or the student must think twice on why they wanted to send their children in Delhi or other mainland cities for education, when there are several regional and state institutions in the north east region.
2. Student / parents must be thorough about the scope and prospects of the course(s) in which they wanted to seek admission in the undergraduate courses in the mainland cities.
3. Student (s) / parents must think twice about the person with whom they (Children) will be staying with in Delhi or who will be looking after them in Delhi. So many innocent children misuse the freedom from their family within a week of reaching Delhi in the company of their cousins and frends of their cousin sister’s etc. living together in a small one /two room.
4. Always keep in mind that the purpose of your staying in Delhi is to study and complete the course with the best result. Maintain certain limit of social activities. There are so many ethnic base student organizations in Delhi who can divert your objective into a patty tribe/ community base student leader. So many bright students have been turn into a fanatic community leader rather than fulfilling their objective in Delhi.
5. Never expose your money and your lavish life style in public. You can be targeted for your money any at places, and you will not be able to defend yourself.
6. Do not resort to the easier way of seeking admission like bribing, entrusting somebody, over writing documents, etc. and try to have the confidence to express what you want to the official, police and other trustworthy senior people.
7. Do not blindly rely on half backed seniors belonging to your community / tribe who might have been in Delhi for the last 2-10 years. Before apply for a particular course, consult the Admission Counselors appointed by Delhi University who will be sitting in the admission counter. The Deputy Dean of Student welfare and some counselors are from Manipur (Meiteis from Kakching, a tribal from churachandpur, etc.)
8. Keep maximum attested copy of your entire documents (Class-X, XII, Caste-tribe, Character etc certificate. Sport quota, Ex-servicemen, Handicapped may also be helpful.
9. Never use high pitch voice (shouting at the officials or others out of anger perpetrated by their harassment. Mainland people cannot tolerate a mongoloid or lower caste people shouting at the upper class people.
10. When you are looking for a rented house, you must know the trade and nature of the house owner and the environment of the localities before finalizing the agreement. Do not stays alone just because of you want privacy? By the time you realize, it may be already late.
11. Be careful about your dress. You may be the children of the most influential or the riches men in your state but even a rickshaw driver, sweeper etc in the mainland will not give a damn. Boys can wear simple shirt and long-pen clean shoes. Girl can wear a dress that covers atleast 3 inches of their arm upto the knee or long pen. Being a scheduled tribe / caste and seeking for reservation, Boys dressing like rap singers, hippies and girls dressing like wealthy item girls and carrying a mobile phone costing above Rs 10,000 defeats the objectives of reservation for backward class section.
