Dear friends,
A new research programme will be starting at the School of Social Sciences, National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore, in January 2010. The programme is entitled 'Provincial Globalisation: The Impact of Reverse Transnational Flows in India's Regional Towns'. This is an international collaborative programme with the Amsterdam School for Social Science Research (ASSR), University of Amsterdam (UvA), and NIAS, directed by Prof. Mario Rutten (ASSR) and Dr. Carol Upadhya (NIAS).
The attached flyer is a pre-announcement of research positions that we will soon be advertising under the programme -- two Ph.D. fellowships in sociology/ social anthropology and one Post-Doctoral Fellowship in economics.
We would be very grateful if you could circulate this information widely among your colleagues and students to help us attract good applications for these positions.
Also kindly print out the flyer and place it prominently on your bulletin board, if possible. If you have any students who would potentially be interested in the Ph.D. positions, please do ask them to write to me. You can also tell them informally that if they join this programme, we may be able to offer registration for the Ph.D. degree with the University of Amsterdam.
Thanks and best regards,
Carol
