On the threshold of grave
Kayamuddin Pukhrimayum *
Even in the broad daylight
Fear passes before you
O Grave!
The terrible site of human beings.
Finishing the brunt of life of two days
Ending up the prison sentence of the world
One day I also will return sure
Perceiving it as my real home.
My brothers, sisters, sons, grandsons
And friends all I have
Will see me off towards you
Changing all my dress to white colours
For sleeping on your place in this last journey.
I run so far as I despised you
My life is full of misdeeds
When I stood on your threshold
Can you expel me from sleep that time
O, kind Grave!
The terrible site of human beings.
