On seeing the buds appearing in Spring
- Deep from the Soul -
K. Radhakumar *
On Sundays I try hard not to laugh
And with this end in view
I work Mondays to Saturdays.
Monday says
Life is still young;
There's time enough
To live artificial lives.
My boss has sent us
A fellow worker and I
To other cities for a marketing campaign
As discussed and resolved at Tuesday's meeting.
I am out of station
For the next two days, i.e.
Wednesday and Thursday.
We are engaged in animated conversation,
In cut-throat competition
To sell our products.
Buying and selling
Selling and buying
And the Treasury!
That's it, carry on please!
We have no time for finer things of life.
Back home on Friday
I am running a temperature
And have the day off
With the permission of my boss.
How time flies!
I wake to a dull Saturday morning.
Ah! I have no time to prepare.
