Ningol Chakkouba, Kut celebrated in Manipur
Assam Tribune | New Delhi, Oct 31
Ningol Chakkouba, the festival of Manipur during which married sisters and daughters are invited for grand feasts by their guardians and brothers, was celebrated across the State on Tuesday. Ningol means daughters, while Chakkouba means an invitation for a traditional lunch at the house of the parents or brothers. Thus the festival is a special day for the married daughters of Manipuri society.
On the other hand, Kut, the post-harvest festival of the Kuki-Chin-Mizo tribes in Manipur was also celebrated across the State with gaiety here on Tuesday. The main attraction of the festival was the Miss Kut beauty pageant.
