Nagaland govt. clarifies on construction of Gaidinliu's Museum
Nagaland Post | Dimapur, Aug 31 (NPN)
Addl. CS and Development Commissioner R.B.Thong IAS, has clarified that the history behind the idea for construction of Rani Gaidinliu’s library-cum-memorial hall in Kohim was being implemented by the Arts & Culture department, Nagaland.
Citing the concept note prepared by the A&C Department, Thong revealed, that it mentioned the rich and distinctive cultural, traditional, languages and heritage of different Naga tribes, which flourished with the policy of village republic, even rivalling Athenian city states, in producing “great patriots and heroes, who sacrificed their lives for freedom and liberty of motherland”.
The concept stated, that among the people of north east, Rani Gaidinliu “ a daring freedom fighter from Nagaland” was honoured as “one of the renowed freedom fighters” and so a library-cum-memorial hall was proposed in Kohima, where she breathed her last.
