Reply to press statement issued by NDPP :: NPCC
6th July 2020
The press rejoinder of NDPP has only exposed their leaders led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio who have been ruining Nagaland for the past 17 years in different political colours. The NDPPs rotten boat without any ideological sails and loaded with political fortune seekers is drifting to an unknown destination and it’s a matter of time when this rotten boat sinks in the middle of nowhere.
The current confusion of NDPP and state govt on law and order situation is fully apparent. While the state govt refutes the statement of the Hon’ble Governor on the “precarious law and order situation,” the NDPP talks about cordial relationship with the Governor and desperately attempts to rake up the past, forgetting the present difficult situation. Their hypocrisy stands fully exposed.
When NDPP talks about the aborted ULB elections of 2017, it reminds the people of how the Judicial Inquiry Commission report has been suppressed for over 3 years despite running the govt. Instead of blaming the opposition parties, NDPP should make the JIC report public and take necessary action on those responsible behind the unrest and destruction.
The burning down of vintage office buildings at Kohima, loss of precious lives, damage to private and public properties and disruption of normal life for over a month are too fresh in the minds of the people.
Those who fuelled the unrest by way of instigating and sponsoring the ULB agitation may carry their secrets to their grave but the blood of innocents who died will smear their generations. Therefore, NDPP must urge their govt to make the JIC report on ULB elections public if it wants to take a high moral ground.
The recent JIC on Tuensang returnee fiasco has only ended up with the state cabinet pleading with ENLU and ENPO to forgive and forget. This is a direct indictment of the failure of the Chief Minister and his coterie who have been literally running around like headless chickens in matters of governance especially during this COVID-19 lockdown period.
On Naga political issue, NDPP and its partner BJP are only paying lip service. In Jan/Feb 2018, despite calls from every quarter for ‘solution before elections,’ it was NDPP and BJP which went ahead and filed their nominations betraying the aspirations of the people.
They further coined ‘Election for Solution’ to fool the people and more than two years down the line, the goalpost or timeline for Naga political solution keeps shifting without any end in sight.
It has now become apparently clear that the present PDA govt is the biggest obstacle to hammering out the final peace agreement on the Indo-Naga political issue.
Therefore, the Hon’ble Governor who is also the Interlocutor for peace talks must prevail upon the Central Govt to remove the state govt which is only trying to sail in two boats while attempting to escape responsibility of maintaining law and order situation as well as delivering good governance.
