Myanmar jails 24 ‘fighters’ from Assam, Manipur

A district court in Sagaing Region of Myanmar on May 15 has sentenced “24 Assam and Meitei rebels to two years in prison,” the Yangon-based The Irrawaddy reported on Friday. The Hkamti District Court jailed the “fighters” for “staging a rebellion against the Indian government,” based in Myanmar, it said.
The cadres belong to “Manipur People’s Army (MPA), the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), the People’s Liberation Army of Manipur (PLA), the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) and the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak,” it said.
