My name is Kom, Mary Kom

'Dr. No' says 'you only live twice'. This is your secŽond life and you can't possibly have a third lease. During this second span just open your 'golden eye' and try to capture your dream. For you 'the world is not enough', you have a cherŽished goal to accomplish. Bring the ultimate gold (Olympic) before your 'goldfinger' retires.
Even with five times Asian title, five times World title, Asian Games gold, Olympic bronze and many other coveted medals and & rewards, Mary the Honorable Member of the Upper House won't get the 'quantum of solace' till she reaches her final destination. The most decorated female pugilist of the world belongs to Manipur.
Somebody says she is the Muhammed Ali of India; we all agree with a gleeful endorsement. What a precious possession for the Manipuris (Kukis-Nagas- Meiteis-Pangans-others)!
At home we are fighting for a piece of land when the boundaries are gradually erased by technology via 'skyfall'. We are moving towards a boundary-less world where AI (artificial intelligence) will guide and lead. Just for psychological satisfaction we are drawing and redrawing maps like a child does.
The 'spectre' of hatred and enmity must be wiped out. Let Mary bring us peace and prosperity. 'The man with the golden gun (pen)' must jot down that it is for the first time a serving Member of Parliament winning a major continental championship that too in boxing. It is not about the boxing matches inside Parliaments, Assemblies, Panchayats etc. But it is about real Ring bouts. The Gunnies Book of World Records and other global Record books must take cognizance of her feat.
The mother of three with a loving/supportive husband Mary's achievement is beyond a multi-million win in 'Casino Royal'. I was having 'thunderball (bolt)' while watching Kom beating Kim (North Korean boxer) in the final. The Korean boxer was young but made her helpless by Korn's experience and wisdom. Perhaps Kim was frightened by Kom's reputation.
Ultimately the blessing of Baosingh's oina (legendary omnipotent left hook of mythical local boxer Babu Singh) worked in favor of our daughter pugilist.
Mary admitted that many had written her off. So she wants to dedicate her victory to her fans and supporters. Mary has come back to stay, she will 'die another day' but certainly not now.
She also wants to thank her coach and staff for helping her in her relentless endeavor to strike back. "Coming back and winning a gold medal after many years is not an easy thing because I have a lot of responsibilities. But I wanted to make a comeback and make my nation proud again.
The crowd was cheering me and it certainly brought back memories for me. The most important thing for me was to get back in the ring. And to win in 48 kg category, which was my weight category for many years previously, is a positive thing for me."These are her words.
When Mary was felicitated for her Olympic Bronze , one Hon. Member introduced me to her. She said Hai ! And then we shook hands. Her hand was so soft; it does not look (feel) like a boxers hand. It is incredible that such a soft palm can knock down hundreds of opponents inside the ring and perhaps outside too. I told my wife that her hand is very soft. The reply I got was not at all courteous.
Only a few days back I sent a message to Mr. Kom , congratulating him on Mary's victory over Kim Hyang Hi who represented North Korea the land of Kim the great.
Not replied but I didn't mind because I was not expecting one. Next Olympic is just three years away. If she can continue with the present fitness level with the existing blitzkrieg style and manage at 48 kg level we can well anticipate a gold in Tokyo. 'Tomorrow never dies' for Mary Kom.
While 'on her (his) Majesty's service' Madam, please stand up for the cause of unity and integrity, love and harmony, peace and co-existence, sisterhood and brotherhood; it holds well both for the country and for the State.
People are celebrating your comeback-victory and you are our Kohinoor. 'Diamonds are forever'.
