Mom's The Word: (Mothers' Day Poem)
Lunminthang Haokip*
1. It's good that we have a day for Mothers,
On week-days, many other things bother;
Weak or strong, sons and daughters love their mom,
Right or wrong, to dot on mother's the norm;
Lucky's he who has a mom to cry on,
Many have no mom, and sadly live on.
It is a great joy to have a mother,
A mother cares deeper than a father;
In your happiness, she is more happy,
In grief, she sheds tears with heart heavy;
She nurses, absorb curses and still looms
Large to deal all crises from womb to tomb.
2. Virtues spilled over from Mother India,
Issues sap poor Mother North-East India;
Hard life makes many fathers philander,
To see kids learned, mothers run counter;
And when the kitchen's stock of food is low,
Put to high risk is the sweat of mom's brow.
3. All homes with its own comfort is replete,
But with no mother, are never complete;
With mom around, siblings may go hissing,
But when mom's away, something is missing;
On Mother's Day, let us all make amends,
And thank God for the blessed Mom He sends.
