Mizo civil societies protest against ‘illegal immigrants’

Civil society organisations in Mizoram joined Delhi Mizo Zirlai Pawl (DMZP) in staging demonstration against illegal immigrants in Aizawl on October 28. The event was held near Vanapa Hall, where leaders of Mizoram civil bodies and student bodies expressed their resentment against the “presence” of illegal immigrants in Northeast India, especially in Mizoram. They also slammed politicians and governments who “rule” Mizoram for a number of years for their negligence to the “influx of foreigners” just for vote bank.
The event was organized by Joint NGO Coordination Committee comprising Central Young Mizo Association (YMA), Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Mizo Students’ Union (MSU), Mizoram Upa Pawl (MUP), and Mizo Hmeichhia Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP).
