Dear Editor,
In the recently held MPSC prelims exam, 2013, I came across the following flaws/ mistakes as described below:
Note : This is with respect to booklet number D series.
Q. No. 104. Arrange the following in chronological order:
(a). Microsoft founded by William H. Gates
(b). First IBM electronic digital computer
(c). First laptop computer
(d). Microsoft windows
Answer key says that right answer must be option C. (b), (a), (c), (d) which is wrong. The right answer should have been option D. (b), (a), (d), (c) that is the chronological order must be: (b) First IBM electronic digital computer, (a) Microsoft founded by William H. Gates (d) Microsoft windows, (c) First laptop computer.
Q. No. 106. If Watt measures power, what does volt measure?
A. Electrical current
B. Energy
C. Electromagnetic force
D. Electrical resistance
Answer key says that option C. Electromagnetic force is the right answer which is totally wrong. None of the option gives the right answer which my be either electric potential/voltage or electric potential difference.
Q. No. 122. Consider the following statements and choose the correct options from the codes given below:
1. The value of the speed of light in vacuum is exactly 1/299,792,458 m/sec
2. The speed of light in vacuum is less than the speed of light in air
3. The speed of light in vacuum is denoted by 'v'
4. The speed of light in vacuum helps define length of the metre
Answer key says that the right answer is option C. 1 and 4 are correct which is wrong because the statement number 1. The value of the speed of light in vacuum is exactly 1/299,792,458 m/sec is wrong. The right value of speed of light in vacuum should have been 299,793,458 m/sec, not 1/299,792,458 m/sec. We must keep in mind that 1/299,792,458 m/sec which mean 1 divided by 299,792,458 is not equal to 299,792,458 m/sec.
Q. No. 181. Who is a person of Indian Origin?
A. An Indian citizen who has migrated to another country
B. A person of Indian origin born outside India
C. A person of Indian origin who is not a citizen of India
D. A person who has not resided in India for the purposes of Income Tax Act, 1961
Answer key says that right answer is option D which is in my conscience not the correct answer. The right answer would be option B. A person born outside the country to either parent(either father or mother of Indian origin) of Indian origin will be considered as a person of Indian origin.
Further, I would request the esteem readers and concerned candidates who wrote the exam to pay due attention to each and every question and check properly if there is any flaws or inaccuracy either in the question itself or in the answer key provided as I came across quite a number of dubious questions which need to be verified.
And I am regretted as I couldn't check each as every questions myself as I don't have the expertise in some other domain of question. MPSC has put up a notification in an order accompanying the answer keys saying that any complaints regarding inaccuracy or concerns must be put across officially before 21st October, after which complaints will not be entertained further.
So, kindly take necessary and timely actions from your sides and you can also include the about contentious questions while you complain.
Thanking you !
