Memorandum to Resident Commissioner of Manipur House regarding irregularities
February 28 2014
NEFIS and other student organizations submit a memorandum to Resident Commissioner of Manipur House regarding irregularities
Today NEFIS along with an office bearer of Manipur Students Association Delhi and Hmar Students Organization went to meet the Resident Commissioner of Manipur Tikendrajit House regarding the fact that the Manipur Tikendrajit House located at Chanakyapuri instead of providing accommodation to the needy Manipuri people who travel all the way to Delhi for important purposes have on the contrary leased out rooms to the MCD for housing electricity transformers. Otherwise too the Manipur Bhavans are always seemingly full and there is a lack of transparency when it comes to providing rooms to the needy Manipuri.
We strongly condemned the malpractice of the MCD and the Manipur government. The following were our demands regarding this issue:
1) The Manipur Bhavans should not be used by local state agencies and should be provided to student organizations and civil society groups.
2)The rooms in Manipur Bhavan should be provided to needy Manipuri people.
3)The canteen in the Bhavans should serve Manipuri food.
4)The occupancy of the rooms in the Bhavans should be displayed transparently on the Notice Board.
5) The Resident Commissioner should be accessible for any meeting regarding these malpractices.
Yours Sincerely,
Thethem Haokip
