Meghalaya to avoid 'Manipur-like' situation

Meghalaya has decided to take preventive steps to avoid a “Manipur-like” situation in the coming assembly elections in the state especially the militancy-ravaged Garo Hills.
“Pre-emptive steps will be taken to ensure free and fair elections especially to prevent any attempt by militants to disrupt the peaceful conduct of the polls in Garo Hills,” home minister HDR Lyngdoh told Seven Sisters Post here on Monday.
