Mark tampering to now confusing instruction Revamp the MPSC !
- The Sangai Express Editorial :: June 06 2016 -
From mark tampering to copy and paste questions to now confusing instruction to candidates and the infamy is complete.
Inefficient, sloppy and corrupt are all descriptions that fit the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) to the T.
So all the hard work that candidates had put in to crack the preliminary round of the examination has evaporated and candidates will have to sit for the same on July 3.
Despite the decision to cancel the preliminary examination conducted on May 15, the MPSC authority has still not explained why there were two diametrically opposing instructions to the candidates.
One instruction said that there will be negative marks for all wrong answers while another instruction said that there will be no such negative marking.
To make things worse, not all the candidates were given the verbal instruction that there will be no negative markings in come exam centres.
To think that this can happen at a competitive examination to recruit the best brain from amongst thousands and the inefficiency of the MPSC stands for all to see.
That nothing has been learnt from the past is a given and this is something not acceptable at all.
Heads should roll. Time to fix responsibility.
Still no report on whether anyone has been pulled up for the gross error in the instructions to the candidates and what is stopping the MPSC from pulling up those responsible for such a folly ?
Though a fresh exam may seem to be the best possible way forward, one should not forget that quite a large number of candidates must have done well in the exam and could have started preparing for the Mains.
The decision to cancel the exam has the potential to derail the preparations of some serious candidates.
This point should not be lost on anyone, particularly the MPSC. For too long the future of the youngsters has been toyed around by the incompetent and lethargic people in positions of power and influence.
Serious thoughts should be given on how to revamp the MPSC and make it an institute fit to recruit the best brains from amongst the youngsters.
No one should play around with the future of anyone.
