Manipur hill districts get Rs 424.45 cr for block development

Planning Commission of India (PCI) has cleared a proposal of Manipur government to develop 27 blocks in hill districts at a cost of Rs. 424.45 crores, said an official source Saturday.
The proposal was submitted to PCI by state chief minister O. Ibobi Singh who returned to Manipur Saturday after camping in New Delhi since October 19 for parleys with the union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on the Naga issue.
The final outcome of the meeting with the home minister was yet to be ascertained. The 27 blocks to be developed with the financial assistant include three from Chandel district, eight from Churachandpur district and Senapati districts and four each from Tamenglong and Ukhrul districts.
