Manipur hails move to ban strikes
- Call to protect rights

Political parties, the intelligentsia and the business community in Manipur have welcomed the state cabinet's decision to enact a legislation to ban strikes and blockades.
However, some of them cautioned the BJP-led government that such a legislation should not curtail the democratic rights of citizens to protest and launch movements.
Some suggested that in addition to the law, no situation should be created by the government to compel citizens to call strikes and blockades.
