Manipur government revises stipend 'militant surrender policy'

With centre gave its acceptance to a revised scheme for surrender-cum-rehabilitation of militants in the state of Manipur, the stipend being enjoyed by surrendered militants will be hiked at Rs 3,500 from the existing Rs 2000. Even though union ministry of home affairs implemented a common surrender-cum-rehabilitation of militants in the north-east, a slightly different scheme was being enforced in the state of Manipur with the knowledge of the union ministry of home affairs.
MHA had recently revised its scheme for surrender-cum-rehabilitation of militants in the north-east under which surrendered militants lodged in the government runs rehabilitation centres were enjoying a stipend of Rs 2000 per month apart from incentive for the surrendered arms and ammunition and an immediate grant of Rs 2.5 lakh.
