MSS Monthly Talk : Manipuri Cinema and the Clout of Social Norms
Date : 30th January , 2016 at Delhi School of Economics
Manipur Sociological Society (MSS) cordially invites you to the Monthly Talk
Topic : Manipuri Cinema and the Clout of Social Norms
Abstract:
The idea that films are inspired by our everyday lifes’ and reflects the society’s state of being warrants a closer analysis in the context of Manipuri Film Industry. My Dissertation wishes to do an in-depth study on the sociopolitical influences that regulate the Manipuri Film Industry. By doing so, I wish to analyze if such regulation re-enforce dictated idealized social norms in the narratives of the Manipuri Films.
Further, to see if the imposition of social norms are controlled by the dominant on the weaker sections of society. If so, this development demands attention from academics, policy makers and the society at large.
