Letter to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on attack on Manipuri girl in Mumbai
03 March 2016
The Founder of The Nehruvian, Ningombam Bupenda Meitei, wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to bring up the issue of attacking, assaulting, spitting, molesting, dragging and publicly humiliating a young Manipuri girl in Mumbai. Quoting news reports, published today, from The North East Today and Hindustan Times, Bupenda Meitei strongly urged Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to ensure justice be given to the Manipuri girl.
In a letter to Sonia Gandhi, Bupenda Meitei writes,
“I am deeply pained to read the news of publicly dragging, beating, spitting and molesting a Manipuri girl in Mumbai. The news has been reported, today, on The North East Today Magazine and Hindustan Times. The local Vakola police station has refused to listen to her and an FIR too has not been registered.
I am attaching the screenshot of the news in this letter of mine. I strongly urge you to kindly bring this matter on the floor of the House in Parliament to ensure that BJP Government in Maharashtra and BJP’s Modi Government in New Delhi respect and honour the dignity of not only the girls, women of the North Eastern India but also the mongoloid featured people of the region who are very much an Indian. I would like to bring your attention in ensuring justice to the Manipuri young girl, who is your daughter, who is my sister and who is the daughter of India.”
In a letter to Rahul Gandhi, he writes,
“I, as a mongoloid featured Indian, want you to take up this issue very seriously as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Chief Minister in Maharashtra have failed to protect an Indian young girl from Manipur in Mumbai, the economic capital of India, simply because she does not look like Narendra Modi or Devendra Fadnavis. It is the saddest shame on India as a whole. Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis have failed to protect North Eastern Indians in Mumbai, where the Chief Minister’s office resides.”
