The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) which was established in 1936 is a Deemed University fully funded by the University Grant Commission (UGC), Government of India. The TISS offers 39 Master Degree Programmes in a range of Socially relevant inter-disciplinary of Social Work, Social Sciences, Health, Management, Labour Studies and Habitat Studies from its Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad Campuses. It has a strong M.Phil/Ph.D programme a high degree of freedom and autonomy shape the positive work ethos and creativity in the Institute.

The TISS offers a very challenging but fulfilling academic environment and opportunities to scholars committed to creating a just society through education, generation of knowledge and field action and invites interested scholars located within and outside India to apply for the faculty positions of Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors in the newly instituted School of Law, Rights and Constitutional Governance for the following disciplines in particular:
1. Legal Research and Legal Writing
2. Comparative Constitutional Laws/Systems of Governance – Constitution and Social Justice
3. Law and Poverty
4. Clinical Law Teachers
5. Globalization, Economic Development and Law
6. Alternate Dispute Resolution, Court and Case Management
7. Legal and Judicial Reforms for the Vulnerable
8. Access to Justice

The required qualification for eligibility for the above mention Law Faculty would be as per the following UGC norms:-
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE COMMON FOR POSITIONS MENTIONED BELOW.

PROFESSOR:
A i) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in Law and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in research at the University/National level institutions/industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level.
iii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching learning process.
iv) A minimum score of 400 points as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the UGC Regulation 2010 in Appendix III.
OR
B An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the relevant field, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/ relevant discipline, to be substantiated by credentials.

Associate professor : i) Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in Law.
ii) A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
iii) A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
iv) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students.
v) A minimum score of 300 points as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the UGC Regulation 2010 in Appendix III.

Assistant professor :

1. Good academic record with at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade of ‘B’ in the 7 point scale with letter grades O, A, B, C, D, E and F at the Master’s Degree level, in Law from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. A relaxation of 5% will be provided from 55% to 50% of the marks at the Master’s level for the SC/ST category candidates, and to the Ph.D. Degree holders who have passed their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September 1991.
ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
iii) Candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/ Colleges/Institutions.

The vacancies are also available for following positions for which essential qualification and eligibility will also be as per UGC norms

1. Research Associates/Officers
Master’s degree Law with minimum 55% marks.
2. Field Supervisors
Master’s degree Law with minimum 55% marks.
The reservation for the respective post will be as per the Government of India Guidelines.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

The Institute reserves the right to: (a) relax any of the requirements with reference to age and experience in exceptional cases and/or in the case of persons already holding comparable positions, on a regular basis, in a University/research institution of repute, (b) invite persons for interview who may not have applied for as per the above procedure, (c) to fill up vacancies arising, (d) not to fill up any of the vacancies advertised; (e) Since applications received may be short listed, merely possessing the prescribed qualifications and the requisite experience would not entitle a person to be called for an interview; (f) No correspondence nor telephonic/electronic query will be entertained from candidates regarding postal delays, conduct and result of interview and reasons for not being called for interview.

Canvassing by an means in any form at any stages of the recruitment processes will lead to disqualification; (g) Reservations, relaxations and concessions for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates are applicable as per Government of India rules; (h) The candidate should clearly note that the Institute would not be responsible for non-receipt of their application or any delay in receipt thereof on any account.
