Kukis announce crusade against poachers in KNP
Seven Sisters Post | Diphu (Dec 4):
Wildlife conservation movement got a major fillip in terms of support from civil society organisations when the Kuki National Assembly (KNA) on Tuesday announced its crusade against poachers in Kaziranga National Park (KNP). The KNA announced it’s decided to take “severe action” against poachers operating inside Kaziranga.
“We have recently formed an anti-poaching and wildlife crime cell with the name and style of ‘Antipoaching and Wildlife Protection Committee’ to fight the menace of poaching in the KNP. Our duty is to deal firmly, in collaboration with the Central and Assam governments, the illegal trade of animal parts being carried out by anti-social elements,” said KNA general secretary of its ant-poaching and wildlife cell Helkam Guite.
