K Shantibala Devi named Bal Sahitya Puraskar for 2011
Manipuri writer K Shantibala Devi has been named for this year's Bal Sahitya Puraskar.
Shantibala Devi's book on folk tales and plays 'Tal Taret' in Manipuri language was among the most outstanding books for children published in 24 Indian languages selected for the Sahitya Akademi Award for Children's Literature, the Bal Sahitya Puraskar, for 2011.
The Bal Sahitya Puruskar was instituted by the Sahitya Akademi in 2010. The award, in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper plaque and a cheque of Rs 50, 000, will be presented to the scholars at a special function to be held on November 14 in Kolkata.
