70th Independence day celebration at Jiribam on August 15 2016
Amidst the general strike called by the various UGs groups of Northeast including UGs operating in Manipur against holding of Independence Day celebration, The Jiribam Sub- Divison of Imphal East District celebrated the 70th Independence day today with much gaiety with the rest of nation at Jiribam Higher Secondary School playground.
Today celebration was attended by the large numbers of peoples of all sections of the communities of Jiribam as well as official of all civil administrative departments and the official of security personnel’s also graced the celebration.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (in-charge) W. Birjit Singh unfurled the tricolor national flag accompanied by national anthem sung by the volunteers of ICDS, Jiribam.
Meanwhile, the contingent of Jiribam Police, 27 Assam Rifles, 87 Bn. CRPF, VDF Personnels, Fire Service and 7th IRB contingents along with their cultural troup marched the parades.
Thereafter, the Chief Guest of the programme W. Birjit Singh conveyed the message of Independence day . In his address he said that the general election will be held with few months, so urged to the peoples of Jiribam to elect their representative in a democratic way.
He also added as an when Sadhar Hill convert to the status of district, Jiribam too also hopeful to get the status of district. Thereafter, he said that the ADC office of Jiribam was sifted at Patchao, Jiribam and begins to execute the official work properly and the other required offices will also be sift as earliest, so as to ease into the official works of public. Simultaneously, he also expressed his gratitude for the peoples to take part in the celebration of Independence Day.
Today a parades contingent was led by parade commander Subedar Wahengbam Ishorchandra Singh of 7th IRB and was followed by the parades contingents of Jiribam Police , 7th IRB, *7 Bn. CRPF, 27th Assam Rifles and VDF personnels of Jiribam police. Later, Prizes were presented to the participants and ended the programme grand successfully.
