Irom Sharmila fast against army act turns 12; Repeal hopes stay alive
The Telegraph | Imphal, Nov. 5:
A four-day Festival of Hope, Justice and Peace, organised by the Kangleipak Loinasillon Apunba Marup, National Highway 53 Chingtam Leima Lup and Just Peace Foundation, concluded today with a daylong deliberation on human rights in Manipur and a poets’ meet in Imphal. The four-day progra-mme was marked with poetry recitations, public rallies and meetings against the army act.
The joint secretary of Kangleipak Loinasillon Apunba Marup (a literary body), Yumnam Chanu Wanglenthoibi, recited a poem at the start of today’s programme and ended it with one written by Sharmila, Imadi khongdai setlaroi. The theme of the concluding programme was Stop Oppression, Honour Life.
