Involve women in talks: Forum
The Telegraph | Sumir Karmakar | Guwahati, Aug. 22:
A forum of women's rights organisations campaigning for peace in the Northeast today demanded inclusion of women in the ongoing peace talks with at least 17 militant groups in the region.
The Northeast India Women Initiative for Peace, formed in 2009 by two NGOs - Manipur Women Gun Survivor Network and Control Arms Foundation of India - said though women's rights groups in the Northeast had played a vital role in many anti-violence movements, they had not been included in the peace talks.
