In This Wonderful World
K. Padmakumar *
In this wonderful world
Blessed I am
With a wonderful life.
Soundly I slept in
Like a baby asleep and tucked away
In the sling carried by its mother.
Alas, I woke
To the sunset of life.
At this moment of departure
What I'd like to say is
Only few words:
The story of my life
Was not written by me
There is one who wrote it.
(Translated from his late father's Manipuri poem by K. Radhakumar. Actually, his father gave no title to this poem. Therefore, he does not take the liberty to give it a title but picks up
the first line as its title.)
