Homage to Teachers
Brajeshwor Moirangthem *
Today is Teacher's day
It's an auspicious day
Homage every soul should pay
To the living or dead teacher.
Made - up words won't suffice
But words from the heart.
Is there anyone
Who doesn't have teacher?
From the first entrance into the world
Parents teach offsprings
Feeding, speaking, walking & socializing;
Home is the first learning centre.
In course of one's life, at various stages ,
One meets with lots of teachers---
Instructor, trainer, coach or tutor
Environment is also teacher
Among them the word 'Teacher'
Is primarily applied to school or college teacher.
Where are you, an ideal teacher
A guru who doesn't rob his own disciples
Of their right to food and education,
A perfect teacher, not an. applicant
With piled up documents for an award
In the winner's lucky draw?
Come to think of it,
"Spare the rod and spoil the child".
A true teacher with his loving and forgiving hand
Never hurts the tender body and mind.
Only incompetent teachers appointed through some unfair means
Must show their inhuman and unsympathetic nature.
Some child laws and student indiscipline, mob match together.
A teacher, well skilled in his subject
Sincere and honourable
Well-experienced and unselfish,
Always compassionate and helpful,
Who shines in the the hearts of learners,
I forever pay my homage to you.
