Himalaya Diwas commemorated at IBSD, Takyelpat

Institute of Bioresoucres and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Takyelpat is an autonomous institute under Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. IBSD is working on conservation and sustainable utilisation of bio-resources for the socio-economic development of North Eastern Region.
The primary objectives of IBSD are to study and document the unique biodiversity of the region, develop bio-technological interventions for sustainable development and utilization of bio-resources of the region and generate technological packages for employment generation and economic progress.
On the eve of commemoration of Himalaya Diwas and to celebrate the great Himalayas, IBSD organised a webinar under the leadership of Prof. Pulok Kumar Mukherjee, Director, IBSD.
During the webinar Padmashree Dr. Anil P. Joshi, Environmentalist and Founder of Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organization (HESCO) deliberate on the topic entitled “Himalaya and Nature”.
Dr. H. Birkumar Singh, Senior Principal Scientist, Regional Research Laboratory, NEIST, Imphal delivered a presentation highlighting “Himalayan fragile mountain ecosystem: a critical component of Indian
biodiversity”.
