Hibu: Frauds target NE folk in Delhi
The Telegraph | Sumir Karmakar | Guwahati, Feb. 19:
People from the Northeast living in Delhi face not just racial abuse or violence. Many are falling prey to fraudsters offering jobs, seats in medical and engineering colleges, business deals and share of NRI funds over social networking sites and losing the "advance money" deposited online.
"A couple paid Rs 7 lakh to an agent for getting an MBBS seat for their children in Delhi or Agra and now the agent is traceless. They came to receive the items but the person was untraced," Hibu said.
