Times of India | TNN | Dec 8, 2011, 12.08PM IST
The state government has cancelled unauthorized allotment of land to private parties in Keibul Lamjao, the only floating park in the world and home to rare Brow Antlered deer locally known as Sangai.
Besides annulling the allocation of land to 14 individuals with each occupying 2.50 acres in the park, authorities have ordered further probe to pull up the officials involved in the scam.
Taking serious note of the scam, Manipur forest and environment and revenue minister Th Debendra has asked both the forest and revenue departments to undertake a joint demarcation of the national park to ensure no further encroachment inside the park is done.
