GPRN/NSCN dismayed at fresh violence in Tamenglong district
Morung Express | Dimapur, October 9 (MExN):
The GPRN/NSCN has stated that the reported ambush and killing of NSCN-IM members by ZTF at Tamenglong District of Manipur on 7th October had come as a rude shock to all peace loving Nagas.
“Violence and bloodshed among the Nagas will only give rise to suspicion and hatred”, it stated while adding that the “recent reconciliation process among the Nagas is not confined to a particular region nor does it imply or empower non-signatories to indulge in acts of violence”. “Whether in Nagaland, Manipur, Assam or Arunachal Pradesh, Nagas should respect the reconciliation process as it is the only road to political salvation”, the MIP note stated and added that “emotional integration among the Nagas precedes physical integration and such violent activities only devalues the hope of a better future”.
GPRN/NSCN also called on both “IM and ZTF to exercise maturity and restraint in the greater interest of the Nagas”. It also stated that it was time for general Naga public particularly in Tamenglong district to be proactive and encourage warring groups to avoid escalation of violence. Clashes will not serve the purpose of the Naga people, it stated and appealed to all concerned Nagas to stop further killings among Naga brothers. “The world is appreciative of Naga reconciliation process and it would be extremely unforgiving if violence erupts once again among the Nagas”.
