Front Line Defenders, Ireland on arbitrary arrest of YFPHR Members

Forwarding of Urgent Appeal from the Front Line Defenders, Ireland on the Action of illegal detention and arbitrary arrest of Secretary and President of YFPHR.
Youth’s Forum for Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) would like to inform you that the Front Line Defender based in Dublin, Ireland have issued an Urgent Appeal on the 6th of April, 2020 in connection with the illegal detention and arbitrary arrest of Mr. T Shadishkanta, Secretary and Mr. Kh Phajaton, President on the 1st and 2nd of April, 2020 respectively.
The Front Line Defender urged the Indian Authority to:
1. Immediately cease the investigation close the case against Kh Phajaton and T Shadiskanta, as Front Line Defenders believes that they are being targeted solely as a result of their legitimate and peaceful work in the defence of Human Rights.
2. Guarantee in all circumstances that human rights defenders in India are able to carry out their legitimate human activities without fear of reprisals, and free of all restrictions including judicial harassment.
