Foreigner check post in Manipur on high alert
Nagaland Post | Imphal, April 5:
Manipur police department has been put on alert following reports of increasing inflow of foreign nationals and illegal infiltration of foreign nationals into the state, an official source said Wednesday. Based on the report, state home department has asked the state police department to put extra vigilant at the foreigners check posts across the state, the source added. A letter from state additional chief secretary (home) Dr. J Suresh Babu to the state DGP on April 3 last stated that the home department has the report of increasing trend of foreign nationals intruding into Manipur territory illegally.
To check and ensure that there was no infiltration of foreigners to the state, there was the need to revamp the strength of present manpower, security personnel and infrastructure at the Foreigner Check Post/Immigration check posts set up at Jiribam (at the border with Assam), Mao, Jessami (both bordering with Nagaland), Behiang (Churachandpur bordering with Myanmar), Moreh in particular and Imphal International Airport in general, the home department observed.
