First lady of Manipur Inaugurated UDHAHCOF office extension New Building, Ukhrul

Today (14 May 2014) the Ukhrul District Handloom And Handicraft Co-operative Federation (UDHAHCoF) has extended its office and was inaugurated by our honourable first lady of Manipur, Mrs Madhu Duggal.
Ukhrul District Handloom and Handicraft Co-operative Federation is formed by consortium of Handloom and Handicraft societies which are located and dispersed at different parts of Ukhrul District, Manipur, with the aim to promote, relate and uphold tradition in handloom and handicraft sector.
Moreover it is the source of income, job creation, talent promotion, society upliftment and national pride as this is a sign of rich tradition from our past. Our ancestors have endowed us with rich traditional costumes, with unbeatable designs.
From the perspective of commerce, many of the native designs were unique at the present market, so, its trade can bring economic development to the people. At present there are 150 societies working hand in hand with the Federation. Every society has more than 100 members each with aggregate of 21,000 members of weavers and artisans altogether.
Generation of rural employment by promoting the skill of the local people is our aim.
At Present the federation provides the following services
o Raw material bank ( supply Yarn at milked price)
o Training facilities for weaving, tailoring and embroidery
o Supply of Modern Tangkhul Fly Shuttle Loom
o Readymade garment of traditional modern adaptation
o Weaving facilities and production centers
o Employment generation from grassroots level
o Marketing facilities for finish Handloom & Handicraft products (buy back policy)
o Traditional shawls, wrap around, muffler, bags and accessories.
The function was presided by Madam Valley Rose, Advisor UDHAHCoF, welcome note was delivered by Angambo Kasar, project officer, words of encouragement from first lady of Manipur, Mrs. Madhu Duggal and vote of thanks was pronounced by Madam Janet Hungyo, committee member.
The function was enthralled by the presentation of the folk songs from the members and committee of the federation.
