Nagaland Post | Agencies | Imphal, Jan 8 ()
India’s plans to remove travel bottlenecks with Myanmar, with a bus service from this Manipur capital to Mandalay appears to be faced with a major impediment - poor road conditions along the border areas - but A group of Manipuri youngsters, which had launched a campaign on Facebook to help people affected by the earthquake, has started distributing relief material among quake victims.
The youngsters had launched a similar online relief campaign during last year’s floods in the state. They are not part of any organization or NGO, but a group of volunteers who joined hands on the social networking site. The young volunteers have already visited P Maulding Nepali village atop the Leimakhong Hills and the Leimakhong ex-servicemen’s colony in Senapati district to provide relief material. They have also given relief material to villagers in Kanto Sabal, Chingmang and Premnagar. They are in constant touch with donors in Mumbai who are sending blankets and warm clothes for families currently living in tents.
