Exploring folklore through Oral, Customs and Material : Nanao

Folklore is considered as Science by today's world and discussed at world level. It is categories as Oral, Customary and Material by Folklore after a vast study and it become tools for determining a Civilization.
From this Folklore, Oral - song under the category of oral Folklore occupies a high position in a society. It helps in determining one's community Spiritual, Intellectual, Emotion, Tradition and Believes.
People of Manipur knows that our Manipur is a very small in area, inhabited by different ethnic communities with lesser population and having old civilization for more than four thousand years ago and is determined by our Folklore. But due to the lack of practicing, the Oral materials of Folklore are demising day by day.
It could be said that the Folklore materials possessed by the professional Artists were in safer place while materials in Non-professional level like
i) Lullabies and Cradle songs,
ii) Play and Rhymes,
iii) Teasing Rhymes and Holler are now fear from extinction.
So, NE Brothers is happy to announce that the official launching of "Nanao " (Naosum & Angangee Esei - Based on Traditional Manipuri Children's lore, Game songs and Lullabies) edited by B.Jayantakumar Sharma will be held on 01.12.13 (Sunday) at "The Lawn", JN Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal at 1.30 P.M. "Nanao " is Conceptualized, Published and Marketed by North East Brothers Entertainments Pvt Ltd, Imphal.
"Nanao " is a conceptually designed, materialized and illustrated children book with large colour pencil sketches on 170gsm with its cover laminated showing some of the disappearance indigenous children's games of Manipur, viz.
o uraobi,
o seboti kaonaba,
o uchichi chi and
o khubak lan.
The illustrations are created by Lipun Art, a fine art organization. The book contains children game songs, lullabies and children's lore.
The book is also associated with an audio CD containing the songs which are in the book. The songs are composed and mentored by B. Jayantakumar Sharma, chorus contracted and supervised by Th. Goshe Meitei and sung by Lourembam Bedabati as mother's voice and seven child artists, namely,
Th. Loijingkhombi Chanu,
K. Swapna Chanu,
L. Balinda Chanu,
S. Malemnganbi Chanu,
I. Sandhyarani Chanu,
O. Alish Chanu and
S. Leisemba Meitei.
The soft Pena and flute music which incoporate with the songs to vitalise the very recitals are played by Mayanglangbam Mangangsana and Prithibiraj Laishram respectively.
This wiped clean book with large illustrations and text will encourage pre-school children in their early learning and also aid in instilling and preservation of our culture to the next generation.
We hope the people of Manipur will encourage and support in preserving Manipuris disappearing indigenous children's games of Manipur, viz. uraobi, seboti kaonaba, uchichi chi and khubak lan.
