Exim Bank eyes Northeast's potential
Seven Sisters Post | Guwahati (Dec 5):
Northeast might well become a niche market that transforms into an exemplary player in the export sector. But first the people of the region must wake up to the export potential in order to benefit from it. India’s premier export finance institution Exim Bank has said that although the Northeast has immense export potentials, it has not been exploited yet.
The bank says that the potentiality of the states in the export business will increase by many folds, with FDI and neighboring countries like Bangladesh and Myanmar opening up their markets. TCA Ranganathan, CMD of the bank said, “For their own gain the countries will definitely open up their markets to India very soon. And this will be a very big opportunity for the region. Apart from being just a corridor, the region itself has high potential of being a huge export market”.
