Elegy Written On Departed Souls
Shongminthang Haokip *
Oh Mother Manipur! we find
Hard times to snuggle down,
Amidst stooges ubiquitous felt;
They left for reasons to contemplate.
Oh Mother Manipur! we find
Defense bullets deflect,
To gore our own children;
Robinhood's blood yet to dry.
Oh Mother Manipur! we find
Natures neither nurture,
Joumol village swept away;
Our tears yet to dry.
Oh Mother Manipur! we find
Scourge targes innocents,
Churachandpur brothers immortalized;
Mothers whine to inconsolable.
Oh Ima Manipur!
Save us from malevolent mindsets;
As we heard plaintive mothers croons
Atop hills throughout valleys.
